Water Color Paints 2

 Water Color Paints 2

Hey Ruchi! There is a lot of difference between watercolor and acrylic paint. Differences can be segregated on the following basis:

  • Brightness: Paintings made from acrylic color are more bright whereas Watercolor gives a light, tinted affect. I am putting 2 paintings of mine, one of acrylic and one is watercolor, see what difference can you make out, first is acrylic followed by watercolor
  • Smudging: In watercolor we can mix two colors well, in acrylic it is not possible to mix a dark color once it is applied to a lighter shade. The dark color will come out as a different stroke not completely smudged. So to put, if using Acrylic, never use the darker shades before the lighter ones.
  • Base: Acrylic and watercolor both use water as a base however, the amount of water varies. Acrylic can be used with very less amount of water, or even without water to give thick stroke (oh! how beautiful they look) but watercolor is more of water, less of color. In watercolor the shades are majorly given using water only (increasing or decreasing the amount of water)
  • Handling: Acrylic paintings are like Batman, they are tough, throw them anywhere and they will shine. Not the case with watercolor paintings. Acrylic is waterproof, dust proof whereas watercolors aren’t. The watercolor paintings need to be handled with utmost care.
  • Cost: In my opinion, acrylic is always a tad more expensive than watercolors.
